“Angels of Death” is the fifth full-length album by Ontario songwriter Jennifer Castle – her second for Idee Fixe (Canada) and first for Paradise of Bachelors (USA and the rest of the world).
A sublime mediation on morality and memory, ghosts and grief, “Angels of Death” casts a series of spells, time travel, and spectral visitations. Castle wrote and recorded this breathtaking follow-up to the acclaimed “Pink City” (2014) in a 19th century church near the shores of Lake Erie, where her family also lived and experienced a constellation of losses that inhabit these bruised meanings.

Julie Doiron started playing music in 1990 with Canadian Indierock band Eric’s Trip. They were the first Canadian band to sign to Seattle’s Sub Pop Records. After the break up of the band in 1996, Julie started performing on her own. In 2001, Julie became the first Canadian to sign to Jagjaguwar records releasing 8 albums on the label.

Over the years she has had the great fortune of playing with so many wonderful musicians. Some of her collaborators include The Wooden Stars, Herman Dune, Shotgun and Jaybird, Mount Eerie, Gord Downie and the Country of Miracles , Daniel Romano , and Rick White of Eric’s Trip with whom she made her three most recent albums.
