Shivering Songs at The Capital Complex!

Lydia Mainville is a cellist-turned-singer-songwriter from Darlings Island, NB. Using live looping, she creates layered soundscapes that ebb and flow like the tide. Her delicate voice carries Celtic melodies and simple poetry with quiet strength over a backdrop of richly layered cello, which creates a dreamlike tableau for her ethereal, almost angelic, vocals.

In the dead of winter 2012, Roxy Mercier and Ian Bennett lost track of time and began to make music as if the calendar read 1969. Combining Bennett’s instrumental abilities and Mercier’s vocal prowess, their organic sound paid homage to classic soul music, while maintaining a youthful edge. Roxy & the Underground Soul Sound have been a huge smash hit in clubs from Halifax to Toronto, and they’ll bring their energetic live show to Shivering Songs for the first time in 2017.
